Turkopp/cup for hiking

A friend of mine made me these wonderful hiking cups. I have never seen them in miniatures before. One of his hobbies are woodworking, but not miniatures. I gave him a challenge, asking him if he could make hikingcups in 1:12. He did good, don`t you think? They are so cute! Thank you very much Roy.

I don`t know if hiking cups made of wood is common in other countries, in Norway they have been used for many many many years. Norwegian go hiking a lot in the mountains and woods, the cup is just hanging on the backpack and if you come to a pure stream or river, the cup is there ready to use. And of course you can use it for your coffee, soup etc.
They were probably used more in the past than nowadays, but a lot of Norwegian have them at home.

As you can see, in our house there are three hiking cups :)

Do you have hiking cups made of wood in your country?

In real life our hiking cups hang on the kitchen wall, and here is one in my dollhouse kitchen.

If you want to see more hiking cups, take a look at these cups - not miniatures: /http://eagleproducts.no/treartikler/kopper_krus_i_tre/

Thank you so much Roy!

  1. Hi Mona! What a lovely post about hiking cups. I do know these cups very well. My father was a 'special' person. He always had his own hiking cup with him where ever he went. When he left to the better hiking places we took care that his cup was with him.
So, hiking cups aren't memories from hiking to me. They are memories from my dad. :)
Your mini cups are adorable! <3

  3. Hi Mona! Thank you for sharing about the hiking cups. As far as I know, we don't have this tradition in the US, but I see backpackers carrying empty water bottles on their backpacks for this purpose. Your friend Roy did a beautiful job, and your dollhouse kitchen looks adorable! xo Jennifer
